The Power of Story

I was recently at a conference for work addressing the situation of homelessness. A large part of the issue comes down to getting enough public, therefore political, support to supply the resources necessary to address it. The speaker shared this insight into the effective methods one might use to get his point across.

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but it is reassuring to know that even business schools validate the power of storytelling.

It makes sense why, even with the advances in science, mathematics, computing, and technology in general, we still have a need for good stories, whether told at a barbeque, read in a book, presented at a TED talk, or viewed on a movie screen. Our brains are wired to make sense of our world, and connect with others through stories.
